Richard Hammond of Top Gear fame is being invited to join caravan insurance customers and take a break in a mobile home.
Caravan sales firm Salop Leisure told the Shropshire Star that Hammond - aka the Hamster - needs to experience mobile homes firsthand before passing comment on them.
Managing director of the firm Mark Bebb spoke to the publication after reading Hammond's book, entitled A Short History of Caravans in the UK, in which he writes that while caravans are good for bringing families together, they are "too ugly to be allowed to live".
"It's obvious from his entertaining book, which is full of tongue-in-cheek comments, that he has never experienced the joy of owning either a touring caravan, motorhome or caravan holiday home," commented Mr Bebb.
Writing in his book, the TV personality adds: "When I see acres of fields full of static caravans two words come to my mind: Eurofighter and missile."
Mr Bebb went on to say that if Hammond is going to pass judgement on mobile homes, he should first experience them himself.
The book was published in May and includes information about the origin of the mobile home, advice on how to get the most from models and a section on celebrity caravanners.
