Festival-goers flocking to muddy favourite Glastonbury this year are increasingly doing so with their mobile homes.
Caravan insurance policyholders may have decided that taking their home on wheels along to the festival would be a good way of escaping the rain, which is forecast as being torrential this weekend when the festival gets into full swing.
According to the BBC, the number of caravans and camper vans on site by Thursday morning had reached 3,100, marking an increase of 92.8 per cent on last year's figure.
One festival-goer, 31-year-old Eddie Balls, told the broadcaster that he hoped staying in his caravan would help to cut costs, while also providing home comforts.
"We're all getting a bit older and trying to save a bit of money by bringing our own food and drink so we don't end up spending as much," he commented, adding: "There are a lot of people doing it."
Recently, fire officers at the festival expressed concerns over visitors using gas cylinders in confined spaces, such as caravans and tents, the Yeovil Express reports.
If used incorrectly, the cylinders can leak, potentially resulting in caravan insurance claims should a match be lit inside the mobile homes.
