Firefighters have offered caravan safety tips to those heading out in their mobile homes this summer.
Isle of Man fire station officer Carl Kinvig said that having a barbeque next to a mobile home can cause problems for caravan insurance customers and warned of the dangers.
He told the Isle of Man Today: "It's that time of year that you might be heading to the great outdoors for some summer fun.
"Whether it's in a motor home, a tent or just out for some safety tips you should adhere to. Enjoy this summer but please take care with fire."
Readers were advised to fit smoke detectors in their caravans, install a carbon monoxide detector and ensure gas cylinders are kept in their designated place.
Furthermore, the importance of handling a suspected gas leak in the right way was stressed; caravan owners should not operate anything which might spark and call the emergency services immediately.
Despite these serious warnings, earlier this month those considering hiring a caravan this summer were advised by Nikki Nichol, the head of public relations for the Caravan Club that this kind of break can offer "a lot to be pleased about".
