Hull's caravan industry is showing signs of recovery after 12 months of mass redundancies.
Manufacturers, who have axed 1,500 jobs during the past year, have reported an upturn in business as an increasing number of Brits opt for holidays on home soil in a caravan, reports the Hull Daily Mail.
Paul Bell, head of economic development at East Riding council, revealed that over the past three months 250 jobs have been created in the region.
He told the newspaper: "There is evidence that some companies have gone from operating on a three-day-week basis to full-time again.
"In some cases, production is six or even seven days a week, which is very positive news."
Earlier this year, the Caravan Club revealed a 40 per cent increase in bookings for this type of break and attributed the recent heatwave to the rise in sales of static homes, which owners may need caravan insurance for.
The organisation also revealed that caravan owners are more likely to be environmentally-friendly holidaymakers.
Fiona Bewers, corporate PR manager at the Caravan Club, said: "A recent survey revealed that Caravan Club members are twice as likely to have embraced an environmentally friendly lifestyle than the public at large."
