Caravan insurance policyholders with a passion for nature might want to head to a mobile home site in Scotland to get closer to marine life.

The BBC has reported that Mossyard Caravan Park in the Galloway Hills is the latest location to report huge numbers of jellyfish in nearby water.

But caravan insurance policyholders planning a dip in the sea near to the site should not worry. The variety of jellyfish has been identified as the common moon strain, which cannot sting humans because of their thick skin.

The caravan site's John McConchie said: "Just all of a sudden there seemed to be hundreds of them.

"There were just little jellyfish everywhere you looked - they were in the water and on the beach."

According to Marine Scotland, the jellyfish have grown in number because the recent warm weather has provided ideal breeding conditions.

But the organisation's Steve Hay told the broadcaster that the swarms of sea-dwellers can be annoying.

"They are a nuisance when in large swarms like this but there is nothing much that can be done to stop them," he said.

"In some respects it is a sign that the seas are healthy and productive."
