Caravanners travelling to Trevella Park at Crantock near Newquay will be able to take part in a major environmental project to mark the site's 50th anniversary.

Website ThisIsTheWestCountry.co.uk reports that the park has joined forces with Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Duchy College to launch a tree adoption scheme at the site.

In a bid to attract more wildlife, the park's owners are inviting visitors to the site to adopt a tree for £10, with the money also helping towards the funding of more conservation projects run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

Park owner Trixie Mitchell commented: "There is no substitute for top-quality product and service, but we are immensely proud of our conservation policy and so it seemed only natural to celebrate the 50th anniversary with another big 'green' push."

She went on to say that the park is always looking to increase its environmental sustainability, especially in relation to making the site a haven for wildlife.

The park is among 15 nationwide that have qualified for a David Bellamy Special Distinction Award for conservation. Another winner is nearby White Acres Holiday Park.

Trevella has also has also had its gardens consistently placed first or second in their class in the Newquay In Bloom contest, the website adds.
