Dog lovers will soon be able to take their furry friends away on holiday in custom-made caravans.

The new Bark'n'Ride motorhomes have been developed by Sheffield-based businessman Charles Glover, the south Yorkshire Star reports.

Mr Glover claims that he spotted a gap in the market when his caravan business began receiving requests from dog owners.

This prompted Mr Glover, who co-runs Voyager Motorhome Hire, to develop a dog-friendly caravan.

"With 23 per cent of British households owning a dog, a motorhome specifically designed for their comfort and safety, combined with the convenience and enjoyment of their owners, was long overdue," he commented.

Among the features of the Bark'n'Ride motorhomes are non-slip flooring, a custom-made dog bedroom, as well as a fixed bed and feeding bowls.

In other caravanning news, visitors to Trevalla Park near Newquay will now be able to contribute to helping the environment as part of a new tree adoption scheme developed in conjunction with the Wildlife Trust and Duchy College, ThisistheWestCountry.co.uk reports.
