Mobile home holidaymakers worried about their dogs spoiling their motorhome decor and potentially resulting in a caravan insurance claim can now rent a specially-adapted vehicle that caters for their needs as well as those of their hound.
A businessman in Sheffield noticed the gap in the market for mobile homes that can house pets following research and numerous calls from potential customers asking whether his firm provides the service.
Charles Glover, who runs Voyager Motorhome Hire, told the Star: "With 23 per cent of British households owning a dog, a motorhome specifically designed for their comfort and safety, combined with the convenience and enjoyment of their owners, was long overdue."
The mobile homes are modified to include dog-friendly features such as an access ramp and a non-slip floor in the pooch's bedroom.
A fixed bed and feeding bowls, as well as a separate entrance to the bedroom for the pet also feature.
Entitled Bark'n'Ride, the service aims to help consumers avoid having to track down costly pet-friendly accommodation or put their pet in kennels.
The news follows findings by Tesco that a quarter of pooch owners have booked a holiday in the UK so they can take their mutt with them.
