Mobile home firms in Scotland are seeing bumper business as a result of Britons holidaying at home and foreigners taking advantage of the weak sterling.
According to the BBC, sales of mobile homes are up in the region, while bookings at caravan sites have risen by up to 18 per cent.
The broadcaster suggests that results are being buoyed by the number of Britons avoiding the credit crunch by taking their annual breaks at home, while Europeans and Americans are looking to make the most of the weak pound and opting for a cheap holiday here.
Motorhome rental business owner in Cumbernauld Trudy King decided to set up her own firm after noticing that clients from her previous dog-sitting job were increasingly taking staycations.
"We just thought if that's what people are doing, then hopefully they'll take up the idea of hiring a camper van," she commented.
"We're extremely surprised and pleased at how busy we've been and how well it's taken off."
Meanwhile, the Star recently reported that a Sheffield business has established a service providing mobile homes specially adapted to cater for the needs of both humans and their dogs.
The Bark'n'Ride service may appeal to caravan insurance policyholders who hate leaving their pets behind when going on holiday.
