Young and hip caravan insurance policyholders are now joining Britain's long-standing love affair with mobile homes, it would seem.
The Sunday Sun reports that a new younger set are finding travelling by caravan increasingly appealing, helping caravan sites experience their busiest year in a decade.
Award-winning park near Northumberland, Golden Sands, is among the sites recording a bumper summer season.
The publication reports that the park is experiencing its busiest period in 18 years at present.
Owner Nigel Thompson commented that the message he gets from people enquiring about caravan sales is that consumers are opting to holiday at home in greater numbers currently.
"The good weather we've had is also a contributing factor, but I believe more people are recognising the fact that caravans represent great value for money," he stated.
According to the publication, holiday homes can cost around £9,000 for a used model, with annual site fees usually coming in between £2,000 and £3,000.
The Association of British Drivers recently urged caravanners to take extra care when towing a mobile home to avoid snaking situations when the caravan swings around dangerously, potentially putting caravan insurance premiums at risk.
