A caravan park in Lincolnshire is bucking the credit crunch trend despite predictions of a gloomy summer.

Following the wet weather seen recently, the Met Office has pointed out that it never forecast a summer scorcher, but rather it said that odds were on for barbeque weather.

Downpours in recent weeks have left many wondering if the summer has long gone, although bookings at The Deepings Caravan Park have remained strong during the summer months.

The site's boss Darren Young told the Rutland and Stamford Mercury that bookings at the site have been unaffected by the bad weather.

"So far business has been stronger than it's ever been and we're almost full this weekend," he commented.

Mr Young went on to say that the latest forecast is not likely to deter holidaymakers from staying at caravan parks as they look to escape the weak pound abroad.

"As long as there aren't any floods I don't think this latest forecast is going to have much of an impact," he added.

The Daily Mail recently reported that tourism chiefs in Bournemouth want to install web cameras that allow consumers to see weather conditions at the resort online.

Such a move could appeal to caravan insurance policyholders looking for a last-minute break when the sun finally reappears.
