A family holiday has been ruined by caravan thieves who stole a mobile home at a service station in Surrey.
The clan, who may now be claiming on their caravan insurance, were on their way to Dover when the incident happened and say the vehicle was loaded up with their possessions.
Detective constable Julian Knowles of Surrey Police said that the family were "devastated".
"It cannot be underestimated how brazen this theft was. The caravan was unhitched from the family's car and driven away within a very short amount of time," he explained.
"I am appealing to caravan enthusiasts who may be offered a white Dethleffs for sale at a heavily reduced price to contact us immediately as it may belong to this family."
The mobile home is worth around £5,000 and was stolen from the Clacket Lane services on the M25 near Limpsfield last week.
Police have described the incident as "incredibly unusual" and expressed confidence that someone will come forward with information that will lead them to the culprits.
"With your help we can reunite this family with their possessions and hopefully they can salvage something of their summer holiday together," said detective Knowles.
Earlier this month, a financial expert advised customers of caravan insurance in an article on moneysupermarket.com that they should always invest in premiums which include accidental damage to ensure a hitch-free holiday.
