Caravan insurance policyholders planning their first outing with the vehicle this summer might want to keep safety at the forefront of their minds.
With the number of mobile home holidays having risen by a quarter, road safety experts in Lancashire are urging keen caravanners to ensure they stay safe on the roads.
"Caravan holidays are a fantastic way to go on holiday without breaking the bank but before you set off it's important that you know how to stay safe," commented the county council's deputy road safety group manager Alan Fisher.
He went on to say that there are plenty of ways mobile home fans can make sure their breaks go with a swing "while making sure your caravan doesn't", from loading the vehicles correctly to driving safely.
Among the steps motorists should take is to ensure they have the correct licence for towing the caravan, the group suggests.
Drivers should also remember that maximum speed limits can be different when towing a trailer compared with regular driving.
An expert writing on moneysupermarket.com recently urged those planning a trip in their trailer to make sure they invest in a good caravan insurance policy before embarking on the journey.
