More Brits could be planning a caravan trip this year as a way of spending some quality time with their families.
Findings by HolidayExtras.com have highlighted that 42 per cent of consumers feel the best thing about taking a holiday is being able to spend time with loved ones.
"Despite the recession families are still looking forward to and booking their holidays as they realise it's impossible to put a price on the value of a relaxing break, whether overseas or in the UK," commented Kate Kenward, executive director at the Association of Independent Tour Operators.
And with many Britons feeling the pinch, more consumers could join the hordes of caravan insurance policyholders taking breaks at home rather than abroad this summer.
Ms Kenward added that areas offering good value and family-friendly facilities are likely to be well-received.
But she concluded that families should take into account the likes and dislikes of all their party when organising activities.
"When planning your family holiday think about what each member of the family would enjoy," she said.
A recent study by Tesco Money highlighted that many Britons are waiting until the last minute to book their holiday in the hope of getting a better value deal.
