The Airstream Bambi 422 may be a sleek and impressive model, but it fails to live up to its price tag, a caravanning expert has suggested.

Caravan insurance policyholders looking for a compact new model may be drawn to the good looks of Airstream's latest model, but a reviewer for Caravan magazine warns that the trailer falls short in some respects.

While the model boasts a fresh interior, it lacks the presence of its larger siblings, the reviewer states.

The BMW chassis means that the trailer tows well and the model is fully winterised, making it ideal for caravan insurance policyholders who like to take breaks during the colder months.

But downsides include very noisy vacuum flush in the bathroom, no fan, a narrow double bed that partly obstructs the main door and too-small windows.

"Discreet visits to the loo are impossible; even your neighbours will know that you've 'been'," the writer comments.

He adds that for the price tag of £34,950, the fixtures and furniture do not live up to expectations.

Caravan fans could pay an extra £5,000 and invest in a luxury Airstream such as the 532, the reviewer suggests, although the luxury model is also fitted with a noisy flush system.
