The importance of investing in a rigorous caravan insurance policy has been highlighted by an alleged mobile home scam taking place at a caravan park in Lossiemouth, Scotland.

A public meeting is being held after it emerged that mobile homes at the Silversands Caravan Park were sold several times over to different buyers.

Local MP Angus Robertson will chair the meeting, where it is hoped the matter will become clearer.

He commented that several of those affected by the case have lost thousands of pounds.

"There are people who are may have lost their life savings or who have sold their home to make what they believed was a sound investment. It is clear now that this is simply not the case," the MP added.

Police previously questioned two people in relation to the case but they were released without charge.

One of the caravan owners, Perth woman Sheila Gordon, aged 54, told the Aberdeen Press and Journal she was embarrassed to have fallen for what may eventually emerge as being a scam.

The site is now being managed by Grant Kerr, who took care of the park for previous owners President Leisure and was credited with increasing turnover during his time there.
