The lives of coastal caravan dwellers have been transformed by their mobile accommodation, says new research.
The Yorkshire Post claims a report from East Riding council found many local people settled in parks by the sea enjoyed a better quality of life than their neighbours in more traditional housing.
Barbara Hall, chair of the panel behind the study, told the Post: "We were surprised how nice their caravans were and comfortable and well equipped they were and how happy they were living on the site."
"There's a marvellous camaraderie - they look out for each other," she added.
Most parks are also said to offer cafes, restaurants and social clubs, which provide an extra benefit by helping to relieve residents' stress levels.
A council spokeswoman commented: "They seemed much happier with the environment they are living in now compared to where they were living before."
Meanwhile, those caravan insurance policyholders planning a less-permanent trip to the seaside may be pleased to hear traffic at peak times is reported to be quieter.
A study by AA and road information service Trafficmaster found the recession is making more commuters work from home to save on travel costs.
