Britons looking for a low-cost holiday destination easily reached in a caravan may be interested to hear Poland is being touted as an ideal choice for budget-conscious holidaymakers.
According to travel comparison site Travelsupermarket.com, Eastern European destinations such as Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary may be a realistic option for those who want a change of scenery but worry about exchange rates in more traditional holiday destinations such as France or Spain.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at the firm, said: "They are not linked to the euro and general costs of living and standards of living are much lower than the UK, albeit they are paid a lot less as well so it is all relative to them locally.
"British people, who are fairly rich in the scheme of things, go over there and everything's astronomically cheap or appears to be astronomically cheap."
Choosing Eastern Europe for a future holiday could even be cheaper than staying at home, according to a new study.
Research from Tesco Travel Money revealed that holiday expenses for a family of four for a week in Bulgaria would cost £1,038 compared to a break in Brighton costing £1,490.
