Caravan insurance policyholders may have been among the generous mobile home owners who contributed thousands for Cliffside steps at a holiday venue.

The North Norfolk News reports that the cliffside steps at Beeston Regis have been reopened after being shut down by health and safety experts in July.

Local caravan owners contributed £26,000 to the £50,000 bill for replacing the dangerous steps, which were once again shut down the day before they were to officially open again.

After a refit costing £8,000, the steps have finally been deemed safe to use and can help holidaying caravan insurance policyholders avoid a 20-minute detour to the beach.

Beeston Regis caravan park manager Nicola Dimoglou told the publication: "We got the steps open in time for the bank holiday weekend and it has been brilliant. So many people have been using them and using the beach."

According to the news source, similar problems with coastal steps have been outlined at Overstrand, where two sets of steps have been removed.

Meanwhile, in related news, plans to replace five mobile homes at a site in Worcestershire have been rejected amid fears of impractical mains sewerage, PlanningResource.co.uk reports.
