A new generation of retirees are looking to get the most out of their post-work life by enjoying new experiences and one of their top choices was a motorhome trip around Europe.
Commissioned by pension provider Aviva, the study found that the first year after retirement is the best yet for 72 per cent of respondents.
Many were also positive about future experiences, with 86 per cent saying that they have a long list of dreams and ambitions to fulfil.
Travelling around Europe in a mobile home made it in at number three on the list, with 22 per cent putting it on their wishlist, suggesting that there may be a surge in uptake for caravan insurance policies.
In first place was planning to visit some of the Seven Wonders of the World with just under half (47 per cent) of the votes, followed by learning a new language with 23 per cent.
Commenting on the findings, Paul Goodwin, head of pensions at Aviva, said younger people should see retirement as "something to look forward to rather than dread".
In related news, a recent survey by leisure finance provider IM Financial Services found that just under nine in ten (89 per cent) Britons are considering buying a caravan for holidays in the UK.
