Motorhome and caravan manufacturers and dealers are predicting improved business performance next year, a study has shown.
According to a survey of almost 60 dealers and makers conducted by the International Caravan and Motorhome Show, 70 per cent of firms expect business to be better next year than it has been during 2009.
In addition, caravan insurance policyholders attending this year's event at the Birmingham NEC Arena are expected by some of the firms to help boost business by more than they did last year.
Four in ten of the companies questioned said they expect better trade at the 2009 show than they experienced in 2008.
Opening day figures show that they might be right, as visitor numbers are up and exhibitors have reported that attendees are interested in making purchases.
The show's director Sam North commented: "2008 was a tough year for many companies in this sector, but forty five cent have reported higher sales in 2009 and 30 per cent say business has been stable in the past 12 months."
He added that he was pleased to see consistently high expectations from the industry.
