A caravan park in Scarborough has won an award in what has been dubbed Yorkshire's 'tourism Oscars', it has been reported.

According to the Scarborough Evening News, Lebberston Touring Park won the accolade of best caravan site at the ceremony in Leeds last night (October 19th).

The park was joined by the Crown Spa Hotel and Green's Restaurant in Whitby, which won the categories for most sustainable business and top eating spot respectively.

The Scarborough area's three winners will be joined by Yorkshire's 11 other tourism hotspots to be entered into the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2010, claims the local newspaper.

Last year's ceremony in London saw three Yorkshire entrants secure national awards.

Suitable for caravan insurance customers in touring vehicles, motorhomes and trailer tents, the owners of Lebberston say the park is one of the best in the region.

Owned and run by Mark and Jane Bozeat, it lies five miles south of Scarborough and three miles north of Filey.

Amenities include a large disabled shower block, a family bathroom and a laundry, while a shop provides both essentials and little luxuries, such as local honey and ice creams.
