Owners of a popular Devon holiday park are hoping to offer visitors a more luxurious experience with a £3.8 million overhaul, it has been reported.
According to the Herald Express, the Finlake site, near the town of Chudleigh, could soon boast two new areas for caravans and revamped sports facilities.
The park's owner Haulfryn Group believes the extension would provide holidaymakers with more choice, adding to existing lodge-style accommodation.
If approved, the plans will enable caravan insurance customers to enjoy a break in a secluded spot, complete with brand-new tennis courts and all-weather sports halls within walking distance.
In the planning application for the expansion, the site's manager James Gourlay wrote: "Finlake is an award-winning park and we are always striving to improve our facilities and environment for home owners and holiday makers alike."
Speaking to the local newspaper, Kevin Gilding, Teignbridge council's service lead for economic development and tourism, stressed that tourism is vital to the region's economy, generating an estimated £230 million every year.
Positioned on the fringes of popular hiking spot Dartmoor National Park, the site is set in 130 acres of countryside.
