The caravan industry is helping boost the UK's economy, according to a mobile home expert.
Following the success of the International Caravan and Motorhome Show, Jim Hibbs, managing director of Coachman, has commented that the sector is helping business in a number of areas.
Manufacturing and tourism are just two industry's benefiting from the revival of caravan holidays, Mr Hibbs suggested.
"There really has been a massive move towards British holidays this summer," he said.
"But what is really good for the caravan industry is that it has brought families into our sector."
He went on to say that firms are now starting to use British businesses for components because the cost advantage previously offered by foreign outsourcing has been lost.
Coachman, which offers a number of caravan ranges including Pastiche, Laser, VIP and Amara, saw its sales surpass £6.8 million at the recent event at Birmingham's NEC Arena.
Mr Hibbs commented that consumers usually opt for a second-hand model for their first caravan and upgrade after a few years, "but we've had people coming to our stand who are looking to buy a new caravan after just one season", he added.
