Caravan owners in Bristol might want to be on their guard for thieves after a number of car trailers in the Frampton Cotterell were stolen.
Householders are being urged to take extra measures to protect their towed vehicles following two recent incidents.
Steps may include taking out caravan insurance to provide owners with extra peace of mind that their mobile homes are well protected.
The first vehicle, a double-axle trailer, was stolen from a compound in School Road on October 14th.
Ten days later, the second trailer was taken from a driveway. The model was a rare vehicle and one of only five to be imported into the UK, the Gazette Series reports.
Beat manager Police Constable Ian Matthews highlighted the need to properly secure trailers and also suggested marking vehicles to make them more easily identifiable.
"They can be high-value items and some simple steps should either deter thieves or make it easier for police to recover them," he stated.
The policeman also suggested that consumers register their vehicles on website Immobilise.com, which helps officers identify owners of lost and stolen goods. It could also make for easier caravan insurance claims as those registered on the database receive certificates of ownership.
