Well-known conservationist David Bellamy may have stunned caravan insurance policyholders at a site in Berrow recently when he popped in for a visit.

The countryside fan took a trip to a quarry site near Pershore, which has been transformed into an award-winning static caravan park, the Berrow's Worcester Journal reports.

For the past five years, the Springs Caravan Holiday Park, off Salter's Lane in Lower Moor, has achieved the gold standard David Bellamy Conservation Award.

The accolade highlights holiday parks that strive to enhance biodiversity and conservation while reducing their environmental impact.

According to the publication, the old quarry was bought by Allens Caravans in the 1990s and was transformed into the site, which boasts 90-acres of land, a water meadow and an otter holt.

Among the facilities on offer at the park is an indoor heated swimming pool, a private fishing area, a lakeside clubhouse and ten-month availability.

The park is set around six lakes but is closed between January 8th and March 6th.

Allens Caravans is currently offering caravan insurance policyholders the chance to invest in one of its Advent Tarragon Opus 2006 holiday homes for £89,995, marking a saving of almost £50,000.
