A new report revealing low customer satisfaction in UK hotels could encourage caravan insurance customers to stick to mobile home holidays.
Published by hotel comparison site trivago.co.uk, the Reputation Ranking named London as the European city with the worst rating, with other British cities also scoring poorly.
Commenting on the study's findings, Bob Atkinson, holiday expert at Travelsupermarket, said evidence suggests UK hotels "rely too much on their location and the lack of availability for them to be able to get guests in at a higher price".
He noted that hotels remain too expensive for many, with much of the UK's establishments offering poor value for money.
In order to attract new business, many would need to "up their act" significantly, Mr Atkinson suggested, by improving facilities, decoration and maintenance.
Scoring the highest in the rankings was the German city Dresden, which scored 81.39 out of 100.
Bruges and Bologna also scored well, while classic city break destinations including Amsterdam and Copenhagen performed worst.
Mr Atkinson added that the results may be "skewed", as more popular destinations are likely to be priced higher.
