Mitsubishi van scoops award
The Mitsubishi Shogun has once again come out tops, winning the pick-up of the year title at the 2006 Professional Van and Light Truck Awards.
The van beat competitors such as the Toyota Hilux and the Nissan Navara to the title, shortly after winning the 4x4 van of the year award at the annual 4x4 magazine's awards in February.
Jim Tyrrell, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors UK, collected the award and said: "Having only just launched the new L200 pick-up we are delighted that it has already beaten off all competition to take this award.
"What's more, the fact that it was judged by actual tradesmen and business owners is a testament to its appeal in the commercial market."
A panel of seven judges spent one day driving 70 nominated vehicles, before choosing the winners.
The cars were judged on a number of factors including their user-friendliness. Judges were armed with a coffee cup, sandwich box, heavy duty jacket and clipboard to see just how comfortable each vehicle would be in a real-life situation.
Furthermore, two members of the editorial team from the Professional Van and Light Truck magazine together with five business professionals were all asked about their real-life opinions on the vehicles.
Drivers that opt for the van can rest assured that together with receiving a top vehicle they will also be able to shop around for the best value van insurance available.
