Caravan insurance customers looking for a new destination for a European break may be encouraged to visit the Netherlands after hearing tourism bosses promise a friendly welcome.
According to the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions, visitors to the country will enjoy a wealth of experiences and a laid-back culture.
Research published by consumer specialised OnePoll last week named the Netherlands as the friendliest country in Europe.
The poll of 3,000 British tourists branded France as the least welcoming, scoring just below second-to-last placed Germany.
A spokesperson for the country's tourism board said: "The Dutch are very warm, open, laid-back and have great respect for people."
Dutch people tend to be competent in a range of languages, making communication simple for those new to the country, she added.
Figures released by the tourism body suggest the Netherlands is already popular among Britons, with around 1.75 million visitors arriving every year.
The spokesperson noted that while classic attractions such as windmills and tulips remain a strong draw, tourists should also take advantage of a raft of new exhibitions and events set for 2010.
