A number of caravan parks in Yorkshire and the north-east are at increased risk of flooding following torrential rain storms - and caravan insurance customers may need to make sure they avoid the worst of the weather so they do not have to make a claim.

Major rivers in the area, including the Wear, the Tees and the Ouse could all be at risk of flooding, and alerts have been released by the Environment Agency.

A total of 46 flood warnings for the north-east region have so far been released by the Environment Agency.

According to the Yorkshire Post, caravan parks were at risk of flooding. The Nidd at Hunsingore and Cattal and at Knaresborough Caravan Parks was a risk, the paper reported.

Various roads in the region have also been affected by the problematic weather. Drivers of high-sided vehicles in particular have been warned of the extra care they need to take when out on the road.

Earlier this week it was reported by the Daily Post that three men in Wales had a lucky escape after the caravan they were staying in was blown into a river by a strong wind affecting the area.

None were hurt in the incident, but were left shaken, the report suggested.
