Caravan insurance policyholders may be saddened to read they will have fewer sites to visit when choosing a new mobile home following the sale of some of Discover Leisure's facilities.
The caravan and holiday home company has announced the sale of some of its properties in order to pay off a bank loan to NatWest.
Among the sites having already been sold is Orpington Caravan Centre, which went for £1.35 million.
Land and buildings in Portsmouth were also purchased for around £1.65 million.
It is thought the facilities were already inactive before their sale due to site closures.
The company has said a further three properties will have to be sold as they are currently surplus to requirements.
A site in Carlisle was sold by the company for £120,000 while another in Wrexham fetched £230,000. According to the caravan firm, its bank loan currently stands at £3.34 million before the three forthcoming sales.
Earlier this year, caravan insurance policyholders may remember the firm's Chorley branch being awarded the Gold standard for secure caravan storage by the Caravan Storage Site Owners' Association, after the Darlington facility also received the standard in August.
