A mobile home business in Devon may be having to rely on its caravan insurance policy following a raid at its headquarters that saw almost 30 mobile homes attacked.

The Herald Express reports that thieves broke into the Outdoor Experience Ashburton site on November 20th and made off with 27 jockey-wheel assemblies and 22 towing stabilisers.

Police are considering the possibility that the criminals got into the site via the A38, which runs alongside it, with Detective Constable Jim Spencer, of Newton Abbot CID, suggesting the culprits may have parked up on the hard shoulder before the attack.

He is now calling for people to come forward with information.

A further caravan insurance claim may have had to be made by the firm when another attack took place last week in which a caravan window was stolen from a Jubilee Ambassador model.

Speaking to the publication, company salesman Mike Taylor said the window may have been stolen to order.

"On this occasion they got in by cutting the wire at the bottom of the yard," he commented.

In other caravan crime news, a Yorkshireman was recently jailed for towing a stolen caravan down a motorway at 80 miles per hour during a police chase.
