A Scottish woman who was forced to spend Christmas in a caravan after heavy snow blocked her path home has been reunited with her husband.

Kay Ure spent a month inside a friend's mobile home after venturing out of her family home to buy a turkey on Christmas Eve.

The weather turned nasty and the 54-year-old had to retreat to the caravan to escape the wintry conditions, which may have resulted in caravan insurance claims across the area as icy winds battered buildings and vehicles.

However, the snow and ice was so bad that she was stranded during Christmas with just the turkey for company and only made it home to her husband John, who celebrated the big day with their six dogs and two lost ramblers, on Monday January 18th.

The couple planned to celebrate being reunited after 30 days apart by cooking Christmas dinner but were sent the wrong parts for their broken generator, instead having to cook the turkey in an oven powered by bottled gas.

Mr Ure, aged 57, told the BBC: "It was nice to see her again and she was glad to be home."
