Caravan site owner Park Holidays has revealed that the wintry weather conditions experienced in the UK recently meant a challenging time for the business.

The firm, which has 25 caravan parks in the south of England, commented that as a seasonal business, it is likely to have been less affected by the conditions than other types of firms.

However, it added that the weather had caused the business to be "stretched".

Getting to work was a problem for many staff at the facilities and the weather meant that some projects had to be put back, but the company has said it is now awaiting hundreds of new caravans for the forthcoming season and plans are afoot for a new swimming pool at Seaview in Kent.

"We had a record number of advance bookings for 2010 before the end of 2009 - which was a great position to be in. Although we had a couple of disappointing weeks during the bad weather we remain on course for another record year," the company commented.

Caravan insurance policyholders choosing to use the firm for their next break can select locations such as Devon, Sussex, Essex and Dorset.
