Caravan insurance policyholders who enjoy trips to Devon may have greater choice in the coming years if plans for a park extension are approved.
The Haulfryn Group, which operates caravan sites, has submitted plans to Torbay council to build 108 holiday caravans in Paignton at the Byslades International Touring Park, the Herald Express reports.
Previously, plans for the development of 130 touring mobile homes and 40 of the holiday caravans had been approved, along with tented camping areas.
The new outline will replace the old application as part of a £5 million cash investment in the area.
Graham Lay, the park's general manager, said he is excited about the proposal.
"It started off being four separate parks, and over the years we've raised the standard of accommodation and facilities," he commented.
"There's been lots of investment in the parks and we hope to start work on this latest stage later this year."
Planning officers have so far said they think the work will be appropriate for the area, despite some concerns being outlined about overcrowding and disturbance to existing wildlife and the local landscape.
The publication recently reported that proposals to build an extra 90 caravans at Landscove Holiday Park in Brixham would ruin the area's outstanding natural beauty and as such an application was rejected.
