The number of motorhome and caravan insurance policyholders in the UK may be on the rise, as one mobile home firm has reported an increase in sales of more 50 per cent.

Timberland Motorhomes, based in Lincolnshire, has announced a rise in sales of 56.5 per cent as well as a seven per cent increase in the total number of new vehicle registrations across its five franchises during 2009.

The firm's sales director Mike Lowe said there are a number of reasons behind the company's strong performance despite the recession.

"We have a strong value-for-money product range across our new vehicle portfolio, offer our customers a broad range of quality pre-owned motorhomes at affordable, competitive prices and have benefitted from an increasing number of couples and families wishing to expand their travel horizons within the UK and abroad," he said.

Mr Lowe added that with a mobile home, consumers can take holidays every weekend of the year if they like and retired consumers are unlimited in their choice of location.

The firm recently unveiled its Atlantis motorhome, which is based on its hand-built Fiat Ducato Destiny model and is said to combine practical living functionality with high levels of luxury specification.
