Police in Cumbria are urging consumers to beware of thieves looking to steal items from mobile homes.
The BBC reports that officers have warned the number of thefts from caravans rises in the run-up to Easter, which could mean a caravan insurance claim for those who leave valuables on display in their mobile homes.
Incidents of theft are often committed by opportunist thieves, police suggest, who strike when increasing numbers of people make the most of the sunnier weather by visiting local beauty spots.
A large proportion of those affected are visitors staying in the Lake District, officers told the broadcaster.
Advice usually given to car owners has now been extended to caravan users following a spate of thefts from the vehicles.
Officers have said they plan to distribute leaflets and put up posters at rural car parks to warn motorists of the dangers they face.
Undercover officers will attempt to catch thieves red-handed and police are also planning high visibility patrols in rural hotspots.
Caravan insurance policyholders could take extra security measures by marking their belongings with smartwater - a liquid that shows up under UV light and helps police trace stolen goods back to their rightful owners.
