The number of grandparents taking their young family members for a caravan break is on the increase, one firm has noted.

Findings by Haven Holidays, which runs caravan parks across the country, have shown that the demographic now accounts for almost one in five spring breaks at its sites, Travel Daily UK reports.

A spokesperson for the firm commented that taking youngsters away during this time can be "a lovely treat" before the parks get busy during the school holidays.

They added that the parks have plenty to offer children, especially those aged under five, making it easy to keep youngsters entertained.

"Feedback from grandparents has suggested that they appreciate having so much to do without the need for any additional travelling," the spokesperson said, concluding that the older generation also find the low prices of caravan park holidays appealing.

Haven is currently offering mid-week breaks this month from £99 for a family of six in its superior class accommodation.

The firm has 34 coastal parks across the UK to appeal to caravan insurance policyholders looking to holiday at home, with sites in Ayrshire, Great Yarmouth, Somerset, Blackpool and Essex.
