A caravan site in Derbyshire has received glowing recommendations from the visiting mayor and mayoress of Chesterfield.

Councillor Adrian Kitch and the mayoress of Chesterfield, Mrs Inger Kitch, visited the Caravan Club's Poolsbrook Country Park Caravan Club Site earlier this month to see how the club has invested its money in improving its sites.

The pair were shown how the park meets its goal of being the greenest caravan site in the UK, employing energy saving technologies that are monitored on display panels.

Mr Kitch commented that he and his wife were impressed with what they saw, from the mobile homes to the friendly atmosphere.

"We can both see now why many thousands of people enjoy caravanning," he added.

With such high profile visitors, the park could become more popular with caravan insurance policyholders wanting to see for themselves the facilities mentioned by the couple.

Caravan Club head of sites marketing Catherine Ford said the club was delighted to welcome its guests, adding that the park is ideally placed for visitors to experience all the nearby attractions and learn about the area's industrial heritage.

During British Tourism Week, the Caravan Club also welcomed Oliver Heald MP to its Ashridge Farm site.
