Mobile home fans considering purchasing a new towcar might want to turn their attention to the latest Audi A8.

The model, which is set to go on sale in July, now bears numerous new safety features that could help provide caravan insurance policyholders with peace of mind when they are on the road.

Audi has teamed up with Bosch to design the additional functions, which include predictive systems that interpret the traffic flow and radar sensors that can detect objects and determine their position and speed.

Additional features added to the electronic stability programme could be particularly appealing to caravan insurance policyholders.

For example, the hill-hold control helps prevent vehicles from rolling backwards, while the system also detects whether a towed trailer or mobile home is weaving.

The model is also fitted with functions such as lane departure warnings and automatic headlight control and has an emergency braking system to help protect motorists in the event of a collision.

In previous reviews of the earlier A8, Practical Caravan magazine said that while the car is not cheap (set to retail at around £58,000), it is one of the best luxury vehicles on the market.
