Caravan insurance policyholders determined to get a new site in Doncaster may have a fight on their hands after plans for a park met with complaints.

Locals from the Haxey Carr area have raised concerns that a second caravan park in the area could lead to an increase in traffic, which could in turn have safety implications, the Epworth Bells reports.

One resident, Lynn Cowburn, told the publication there needs to be discourse with local people on the plans.

She said the site has already been registered with the Camping and Caravanning Club, adding: "There's already a huge amount of traffic and now there will be caravans as well."

Ms Cowburn went on to say she is also worried about planned meets of caravanners during the year, which would include a six-day country and western event in August.

Other concerns have been raised about the potential for noise pollution and the effect on wildlife in the area.

However, one resident said there are few people opposing the plans, which could be positive news for caravan insurance policyholders keeping their fingers crossed.

In related news, it recently emerged that residents of Meriden, near Coventry, have been blocking off local roads to prevent a group of travellers setting up a caravan site near their homes.
