Well-known botanist David Bellamy has praised a holiday park on the east coast that was almost swallowed up by the North Sea.
Sand-Le-Mere Holiday Park in Tunstall, near Withernsea has lost much of its land through coastal erosion since 1969, the Hull Daily Mail reports.
Mr Bellamy attended the site 20 years ago and has now been back to see first hand the completed initial phase of a £5 million project to move the park away from the coastline, which could be good news for visiting caravan insurance policyholders looking to protect their safety.
The modern park boasts features such as an outdoor heated swimming pool, clubhouse, and well-equipped fitness suite.
Owner of the site Anthony Ellis said the park has been a paradise since 1917.
"My family's livelihood was in danger of being taken away by coastal erosion, but we are fighting it as well as the recession," he told the publication.
Mr Bellamy commented that it is good news the site is being moved to safety, adding that the work is being carried out in an environmentally-friendly way, which is of utmost importance.
"Caravan parks can be blooming with biodiversity and it's important businesses take steps to preserve this," he commented.
