Caravan and motorhome owners looking to upgrade to a luxury model might want to turn their attention to the Bessacarr E450, which recently scooped a top award.

The vehicle, which was launched by Swift Group at the International Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show in February 2010, recently took an accolade at the Caravan Club's 2010 Motor Caravan Design & Drive Awards

Designed for couples, the two-berth vehicle is stylish and comfortable, Swift states.

It scooped the title of Best Coachbuilt up to £43,000 at the awards ceremony, while the two-berth Swift Sundance 530LP received second place.

Richard White, Swift Group marketing director, commented: "The strong position of the new Bessacarr E400 and Swift Sundance ranges at the awards show that new level of style and specification, all at a very affordable price is a winning combination."

In total, 48 mobile homes were assessed as part of the awards, which aim to provide relevant assessments of the models for use by caravan insurance policyholders planning to purchase a new motorhome or caravan.

The ceremony also saw Auto-Sleepers' new coachbuild, the Cotswold EB, come top in the coachbuilts over £54,000 segment.

Caravan Club chairman Grenville Chamberlain said an increased number of models had been entered in this year's event, highlighting the potential green shoots of economic recovery.
