Vehicle manufacturer Skoda could be set to enhance its appeal among caravan insurance policyholders after scooping two accolades at the recent Towcar Awards.

The firm's Superb Estate 2.0 TDI CR 170 SE was named best car in the 1,575-1,724kg class, while the Octavia Estate 1.6 TDI CR GreenLine won the Green Award at the ceremony, organised by Practical Caravan magazine, What Car? and the Camping and Caravanning Club.

Each model assessed during the awards underwent testing by a panel of six judges in categories such as drive quality, towing ability and owner costs.

Practical Caravan called the Greeline vehicle one of the best green cars it had ever tested, while describing the Superb as having excellent towing ability and a huge interior.

The Octavia Greenline achieves 64.2 miles per gallon of fuel and emits 114 grams of CO2 per kilometre, while the Superb was found to offer stability that is even more impressive than its acceleration.

Skoda's Superb picked up the award for its hatch class last year at the towcar event, with the brand also recently scooping the Best Car Manufacturer title in the Which? Awards and achieving successful results in the Auto Express Driver Power survey.
