Volkswagen's new Passat Estate Bluemotion vehicle is a bargain tow-car, a reviewer has claimed.

Following a recent test drive of the model, Caravan magazine commented that the auto is not only stable and spacious, but also budget-friendly, with prices starting from under £21,000.

Although similar to the new Golf Bluemotion, the larger Passat is set apart as a result of its six-speed gearbox, which allows for a higher top speed.

The model could appeal to caravan insurance policyholders for whom motorway driving is a necessity, as the reviewer claims the auto makes such situations "a pleasure".

According to the publication, it is easy to forget the car is actually an estate, with the engine power and torque providing excellent acceleration despite the extra weight.

"This is a great-value tow-car as you get everything you do in the Golf Plus SE in terms of power and fuel efficiency, but with even more space in the back for kids and paraphernalia," the reviewer notes.

In reviewing the Golf model recently, Caravan magazine said the vehicle is one of the first quality towing vehicles that is also environmentally conscious as well as being budget friendly.
