The driver of a car that overturned while towing a caravan along the M180 earlier today (July 28th) has emerged unscathed.

The incident, which highlights the importance of having caravan insurance for vehicles, happened near junction five of the road at around 11am, according to the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

Police were called as the road became blocked and the car and caravan were moved onto the hard shoulder.

A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service told the newspaper: "We received the call at 11am after a car towing a caravan overturned near Junction five of the M180 and A180.

"Four fire engines attended but they were not required as nobody was trapped in the incident."

He went on to say that the passenger inside the car was able to get out of the vehicle before emergency services arrived and no one was hurt.

The website practicalcaravan.com reminds caravan insurance policyholders that they cannot tow a caravan without a full driver's licence - provisional licence holders are legally not allowed to tow a vehicle.

Motorists should also ensure that their towing vehicle as well as the caravan has the correct tyre pressure, in order to safely and legally tow the vehicle.
