A caravan owner has been left devastated after thieves stole his precious vehicle, leaving him and his five children unable to continue with their summer holiday plans.
In a case that highlights the necessity of caravan insurance, single dad Phil Moore of Lichfield, Staffordshire, was getting his vehicle ready for the family holiday when thieves took it from his driveway, at between 4.40am and 6.45am on July 21st.
Thisislichfield.co.uk reported that the owner did not have caravan insurance for the vehicle or its contents, which included his children's toys and teddies along with his own tool box.
Speaking to the news provider, Mr Moore said: "My parents gave me the money to buy the caravan as a treat for me and the kids, knowing that things were tight and holidays seemed maybe a little too costly for us."
He commented that the theft has left him feeling sad and vulnerable, while his daughter Megan, who turned 13 this week, missed out on her first caravanning trip organised specially for her birthday.
Staffordshire police believe another vehicle was used to steal the caravan and have urged the community to report any relevant activity.
The case follows a similar one in Essex, in which Mike Weald was able to recover his "pride and joy" three days after thieves stole his caravan from a garage.
