Caravan insurance policyholders may enjoy the "unique rural qualities" that south Devon has to offer, the local tourist board has suggested.

According to Visit South Devon, there are plenty of activities for caravan insurance customers to take part in no matter their age or budget.

Sarah Streeter, marketing manager of the website, commented that most campsites in the region are located in "stunning" rural and coastal areas, with the added benefit of being close to the amenities that towns and villages have to offer.

"South Devon offers campers the peace and quiet they are looking for in the dramatic surroundings - it's easily accessible by road and once you get here there is so much to see and do," she added.

Ms Streeter's comments come after research by tourist organisation Visit Devon revealed that visitor numbers to its website have increased by 36 per cent compared to last year, while caravan insurance policyholders may be among those who boosted unique visits to the site in July by 15 per cent.

Visit Devon accredited this rise in popularity to south Devon's unspoilt rural charm and beaches, while tourists may be impressed with the region's new investment in hotels, restaurants and attractions.
