Brits 'underestimate' on home insurance

UK adults seriously underestimate the value of their home contents, according to a new study by ThecontentsSafe.

The company, which has launched a software programme to keep an inventory of what individuals own, claims that Brits are underinsured by as much as £44 billion.

And with the ability to get an instant home insurance quote online, there really is no excuse for sticking with that unsuitable insurance policy.

Dean Cornwell, co-founder of the firm, said: "With so many burglaries, fires and even tragedies like the Boscastle flood or Birmingham tornado, the threat to home contents is very real.

"But without the ability to list everything you own if disaster does strike, Britons are leaving themselves at very high risk of never even replacing those lost goods," he added.

The contents of the average home is worth around £42,000, meaning that - with 4.2 million British homes being on average underinsured by 25 per cent - over £10,000 could be lost in the event of a major accident or robbery.

However, by checking over your house contents properly and submitting for an instant home insurance quote the problem can be quickly and easily solved, leaving you protected and with valuable piece of mind.
