Bank Holiday travel advice for caravanners
Travellers looking to set out over the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend are being offered advice on avoiding delays by the Highways Agency.
With many caravanners looking to take advantage of the long weekend and pitch up somewhere peaceful and quiet - not to mention getting the most of the money they've invested in their caravan and UK caravan insurance - the prospect of getting caught in a tailback is enough to take the sheen off the whole trip.
And with 30 million vehicles expected on the UK's roads, this is going to be one of the busiest motoring weekends of the entire year.
Dr Stephen Ladyman, roads minister, said: "Highways Agency Traffic Officers, maintenance crews and control room staff will be working hard to make sure that delays are kept to a minimum, but the roads are bound to be busy as people take advantage of the last bank holiday before the autumn.
"Drivers are advised to use the travel information services available to help them avoid delays," he added.
The agency recommends checking for delays before setting out, listening to travel updates on the radio during the trip and taking any appropriate diversions.
Information is available direct from the Highways Agency on 08457 50 40 30 or online at the agency's website.
